The Art of the Nude

Eve

This expressive oil painting of Eve in the garden of Eden was created with a lot of energy and raw emotion.  Even though it appeared incomplete, I like seeing the raw energy captured in pure pink!   This painting was created for myself, so I went ahead left the energy of the strokes "as is" on the canvas.  Inspiration comes from the most odd and unexpected places... For example, initially I struggled determining what color to use for the final layer of her skin.  I pondered over this for days, hoping for an answer...  The answer suddenly came from an ice cream shop that I had stopped in.  After being inspired by the bright pink of the sherbert ice cream, I realized that this was also the color I had used for Eve's skin.  Why can't I have pink skin the color of sherbert?  It's its own thing... So I left it PINK! Sometimes the process is more important to me than trying to create a work of art for others!  This is one such case.
