In Michel Souvais' book "Moi, la Goulue de Toulouse-Lautrec" Souvais describes how "La Goulue" (the glutton) was the name given to one of most famous Paris Cabaret dancers.  The story goes that she was called "The Glutton" because she would walk to the tables of paying customers and drink the champagne during her performance.... I spent many days in the streets of Pigalle during my early years.  So I have many fond memories of joy and boundless youth being impressioned by the allure of the Moulin Rouge!!!  Even today, I always love to stop in to the Moulin Rouge for a night of seeing the "CanCan dancers"  and entertainment each time I'm in Paris.
