The Art of The Nude

Inspired by a Master

Female Nude on Horseback 

While I was studying with Bill Brauer in his studio in Vermont, I also painted an interpretation of his beautiful painting of "Lady Godiva".  This is the nude that I painted under his tutelage.  Whereas I am a French "expressionist", Bill Brauer has a background as an illustrator.  So his work is very detailed and refined.  As you can see, while his horse is more subtle and violet, my horse is completely blue!  My style is bold and comes from French and German "expressionism".  It's interesting to see that I do not have the "sublety gene" and do not hesitate to say what I mean.  For example the message of the tail on Brauer's horse is very "subtle", while I make it clear that the tail actually belongs to the woman!  I am happy with my painting after Bill Brauer and will be sure to include it in the finale at the end of this exhibition.
