Me as a Child

Life is a wonderful journey with many twists and turns. Fortunately some of those turns, such as this exhibition, allow me to make complete "U-turns" that take me all the way back to the joy of childhood. That's one of my favorite things about being an artist; I never know what is going to come out of me. One day I am creating art inspired by my life and time in Paris, the next day I'm creating works of art inspired by my most recent travels to Tuscany, Rome, and Venice... All of a sudden my creative spirit has me playing in my studio painting still lifes inspired by my garden and objects in my home.  What can I say? That's the crazy, yet rich and wonderful creative life of an artist!

As an artist, I love the idea of leading by example. So these new works featured in the exhibition are inspired by embracing my own inner child. During my career as an art director and an artist, I've been particularly inspired by the art of children. Anyone who has ever watched a child create art knows that children have so much to teach us about the true joy that comes from the natural instincts to just be themselves -- bold, uninhibited, and most of all playful.  As an artist and a creator, I hope I never stop being able to experience true joy through the eyes of a child. Being in the arts requires that I also have courage. That's why I'm starting this exhibition showing this image of my inner child, reddish hair, freckles, and all... I dedicate this exhibition of my new works to every adult who has forgotten what it is like to experience life as a child.
