The Art of The Nude
Paris As Inspiration

"Romantic & Realist"
private collection
This postcard is another example of a work of art from Paris. I created this work of art years ago titled: "Romantic & Realist". Notice the expressive flesh of her shoulders was painted in a very painterly "expressive" manner in the tradition of French Expressionism. Yet this work also has the intensity usually seen in German Expressionism. While this is not a nude, per se, it is among the postcards in the same style in the tradition of French-inspired paintings on the postcard rack that is in my atelier as "inspiration".
I had created "Romantic & Realist" shortly after returning from Paris. The vibrant color and application of patterns created with the brushwork actually pertains to the style of French painters called "Les Nabis" (the prophets). Paul Gauguin was the leader of this expressive style of unabashedly unapolegetic brush work... In my studio only the postcard of this painting remains. The original painting was sold to an American collector and is now in his private collection.
