Embracing The Inner Child
An Exhibition of New Works Celebrating the Bold Inner Child

"The Little Black Dress"
The American in Paris Gallery
This work of art uses the bold black lines to both draw and paint the the outlines of her form, the flower in her hair, and her eyes and other features of her face, much like the quintessential style normally associated with Matisse. However, here my bold lines have now completely transformed into large shapes, much like ink spilling on the lower part of the canvas in the shape of curving pond forming the ruffles of her little black dress and her pearl necklace. While the application may still seem "naive" and "childlike", there is deep and mature intensity coming from her womanly expression. The painting is both "childlike" yet serious and mature.
