Here you can see the beginning process applying the Caravaggio technique I learned at the academy for human anatomy.  I'm currently working in the classical style of Caravaggio, particularly how he paints "the Flesh".  Caravaggio developed a bold and shocking style of painting known as "chiaroscuro" with strong contrasts between light and darks to create intensity and drama. He created an innovative style of art that stands out and is uniquely his own.  Caravaggio also carved out his own place in the history of art.  That's why he is recognized as such a great artist.  He painted many figures to convey meaning in his work. While in Florence I was constantly learning about many mythical figures and real figures through out history who artists have depicted in classical works to convey symbolic meaning for the viewer.  In this tradition,  this anatomical torso because it  represents a historical Saint who resonates with my own life.
