22 The Dance of the Warrior

For me, being an artist is also like being a warrior, and it takes a lot of hard work, sheer determination, and having a strong vision.  Just like a warrior, I carry on even at times when I'm the only one who believes in my own inner strength, power, and purpose... Dancing helps me to to carry on and is such a great source of sustaining joy in my art and in my life as an artist.

I'm not the first to use the power of dance to tap into creative powers.  In fact, many ancient and indigenous cultures through out the world (before we all lived in modern cities) have always used dance as a creative ritual to tap into their own powers, creative and otherwise, and to receive answers from spirits and The Gods.  As an artist, dancing is my own creative ritual for tapping into my creative powers.  Just like the ancient shaman, dancing allows me to tap into my inner warrior.  For these reasons I've titled this large oil painting "The Dance of the Warrior".
