The Art of Cuisine

Amalfi Coast

View from the Cliffs

There so much to see and never enough time.  Even with the month I spend each year traveling through Italy, I always wish I didn't have to leave so soon.

In America we love to "snack" but Europeans take the experience of snacking to a whole different level, as seen here.  This view is from the terrace of my rented apartment on the Amalfi Coast.  The apartment is up at the top of the cliff just minutes from "The Path of the Gods".

While I loved going down to dine in the town immediate below, Atrani, or walking along the coast to its neighbor Amalfi, I also really enjoyed spending time just relaxing, having glasses of chianti on my terrace with that amazing view.  It was nice spending days like this without having to meet people, do anything, or go anywhere.  Breathing the fresh air coming off the sea was a reminder that being in the moment and relaxing is its own form of entertainment and nourishment to the human soul.

So I also made sure to spend a few days just on the balcony of my apartment, preparing and snacking on Italian artisan breads with prosciutto, cheeses, garlic oil, and local fruits and vegetables from the southern coast.  Those lemons grow in the villa's courtyard, right outside the apartment!
