The Art of Cuisine
Corn Tortillas
My Mexican Flower
In terms of culinary art, I wanted to start small but see how I could make interesting shapes and designs like the the ones I always get served to me at my favorite restaurants. So I started with a simple breakfast design. My Mexican breakfast sunny side up eggs in the shape of a flower was inspired by a Mexican chef who had served me his culinary art on my plate, ceviche in the shape of a flower. I used the Mexican corn tortillas to create the petals of the flower with mushrooms and chilis surrounding the vibrant yellow yolk at the center of my Mexican flower. And for added visual appeal, I served my Mexican flower on a classic Mexican blue plate, itself contrasting the red fabric to mimic the primary red and blue colors that are so frequently seen together in Mexico and indigenous cultures from Latin America.
