During the month I stayed in Italy, I had rented apartments so that I could spend at least a week getting to know each region that I visited and taking day trips to small villages for homestyle cooking.  For someone who loves homestyle cooking like I do, this simple yet delicious Italian meal was made in one of my apartments in Rome. It uses my favorite pasta type, "pappardelle", which is a wide noodle shown above. My pappardelle was served with a simple homemade tomato sauce and a ball of fresh mozzarella.  I love that Italian restaurants serve homemade pasta!!!  I couldn't wait to try my hand at making homemade pasta once I got back home to New England.
