Vegetables as Art
Eat Your Vegetables!
Talk about eating your "eating your vegetables". I've never had so more fun as when I was creating culinary art with carrots and cucumbers! Sometimes I have extra ingredients, so I enjoy coming up with creative compositions for my plate. Rather than making a traditional hand roll with a sheet nori (dried seaweed), here I had fun making Vegetable Maki Towers with the extra ingredients. The maki towers were made with thinly-sliced carrots, stuffed with white rice, cucumber, and fresh Atlantic salmon. Then I just sprinkled sesame seeds and a drizzle of Sriracha sauce for flavor and color. I placed the maki towers at the corners to complete this unique composition of maki on my wooden Japanese plate.
