The Art of Cuisine

Bamboo Plating

Having been an artist for 25 years, I am constantly reinventing using something new with something old... Here, for example, I was on a lunch break from working in my studio.  Instead of making my regular tuna sandwiches for lunch, instead I created a fun Japanese-inspired dish of maki with the canned albacore tuna and mayo filling.  And rather than grabbing a fancy plate, sometimes I prefer to keep it simple.  So I love to just serve my meal on the bamboo that I used while making the maki, as seen here in this dish of maki filled with tuna, mayo, carrot, and cucumber.  There's something so natural and organic about this composition on my plate of bamboo that is super fun to eat and just brings a smile to my face...
