"The Bohemian"
The American in Paris Gallery
Great artists use archetypes to portray how they see themselves. Having lived as a bohemian during my early years as an American in Paris, I will always be a "Bohemian". So this is my mythical self portrait in the quintessential Bohemian archetype that lives not only within myself, but also within every artist... This oil on canvas is one of my most recent works. Inevitably, whenever an artist creates a work of art, comparisons will always be made. For example, this particular oil painting is already being compared to the influence of Picasso, while others have found influences of Spanish subjects painted by the great Sargent. While I will never be in the same league as those masters, I am including some of those comparisons in a juxtaposition below. You can be the judge.
