NIMES AND THE CLASSICAL
5 The Classical Period
This classically-inspired drawing of a male nude was inspired while in a café near the ancient temple in Nimes, France. Enjoying a cup of coffee always allows me to let my imagination run wild as I draw and sketch. As I sketched in my notebook I imagined what my life as a man would have been like during the classical period of art in ancient Rome. That's why my classically-inspired nude drawing is reminiscent of Renaissance drawings.
This period of art and architecture from "The Classical Period" complements the Vitruvian style of the temple in Nimes. I titled my drawing "The Vitruvian". That's why I have juxtapositioned my classically-inspired drawing with the Vitruvian temple, representing the classical period of art and architecture in Nimes, France.
